EDUCATION & ADVOCACY

making real change in our community

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

But, isn’t racism over? What about reverse racism? Aren’t women equal already? Why is this still the mission of YWCA after more than 100 years?

On the surface it might seem as though things have become more ‘equal’ in our society, with more and more women in leadership positions and after the election of our first bi-racial president, but if you scratch below the surface, you’ll find there is still a lot of work to be done before the playing field is truly leveled. We invite you to learn more about what our mission really means and why it’s important!

Accessible Education

We strive to make anti-oppression education accessible to everyone in the community through our growing popular education initiatives. We offer free community trainings to ensure widespread access, and also provide custom DEI training for organizations, available for a fee, tailored to meet specific needs and goals.

Advocacy and Public Policy

We promote, advocate, and take action for national, statewide, and local policies that promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, including racial justice, immigrant and refugee rights, LGBTQ equality, women’s empowerment, and economic justice.

Voter Engagement

At YWCA, our priority is ensuring that all members of our community can freely exercise their right to vote. We believe in the power of participation. Check your voter registration status and find out who your representatives are by clicking the buttons below. Your voice matters in building a stronger, more equitable future.
