Virtual Women of Distinction
Thursday, October 15, 2020

YWCA McLean County is excited to move their annual Women of Distinction to a virtual platform for 2020. The event will be live on Thursday, October 15 beginning at 6 p.m. on a computer near you.

YWCA Women of Distinction enters its 31st year of recognizing the wonderful women who have shown strong achievement in their work and personal lives, and who have given back to McLean County in the spirit of the YWCA Mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Many Women of Distinction have been trailblazers in their professions, pathfinders for social justice, or women on the rise. 2020 nominees can be viewed here.

Nomination categories have been refined and updated to six categories that better reflect those in our community. The categories include Business/Education, Community Leadership, Human Services, Mission Impact, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), and Promise. Full descriptions of each category can be found here.

Also being recognized on October 15 will be the WINGS scholarship winners, which was created and is funded by prior YWCA Women of Distinction. Women of Distinction have a shared commitment to giving back to other women in McLean County so they created this award to encourage development. The award is given annually to a Woman to Improve her skills for a Notable purpose which allows her to Grow professionally and to achieve Success.
