to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity.
We are living our mission through our work in other departments:
Stepping Stones is a program that works with survivors of sexual assault. The program uses a victim-centered, feminist approach that seeks to re-empower those who have had their power taken away from them by another person.
Labyrinth is a program that addresses the needs of formerly incarcerated women who are returning to our community. Labyrinth seeks to empower women to rebuild their dignity and nurture their growth.
Girls Be U is an empowerment group offered to McLean County junior high and high school girls which allows them to explore their own unique and positive qualities through an open and creative curriculum.
Young Wonders offers affordable childcare to families in our community, which allows parents (especially mothers) to spend more time working, doing activities they enjoy, or providing for their families in other ways.
The Equal Pay Coalition--originally founded by YWCA McLean County--seeks to bring awareness about wage inequality.
Women of Distinction gives special recognition to women who have made their mark on the community.
The WINGS Award, of up to $1,500, is given annually to a woman to improve her skills for a notable purpose which allows her to grow professionally and to achieve success.
Circle of Women is a luncheon which provides an opportunity to celebrate the power of women in Bloomington-Normal.
Adult Services works with older adults to help them stay independent and safe in their homes, provide door-through-door transportation to those traveling to and from non-emergency medical appointments, and helping our retired population stay active and give back to the community through volunteer service. Services include Home Care, Medivan/Transportation, and RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).
