In April, YWCA McLean County Stepping Stones promotes Sexual Assault Awareness Month - a month devoted to raising awareness about the need to prevent sexual violence and its devastating consequences. YWCA McLean County Stepping Stones is offering several community programs throughout the month of April in order to bridge the gap of understanding about sexual violence in our community. Every person in every community can do their part to remove the taboo that surrounds this devastating crime. Please join us at any of the events below.

Monday, April 3 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony | McLean County Museum of History (west stairs) | 11 a.m.
Help us kick-off to Sexual Assault Awareness Month with local survivors, supporters, law enforcement, and government officials with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and placement of teal ribbons in downtown Bloomington. This is a FREE event.
Thursday, April 6 Bloomington Thunder Game | US Cellular Coliseum | 7 p.m.
Join YWCA McLean County and Bloomington Thunder Hockey as we say NO MORE to sexual assault. Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities will occur throughout the game and visit us on the concourse for giveaways and program information. Friday, April 7 F1rst Fr1day Happy Hour | The Bistro | 5 p.m.
A teal drink special will begin at 5:00 p.m. and half of the proceeds will be donated to YWCA Stepping Stones.
Saturday, April 8 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® | Uptown Normal | Check-in 10:30 a.m. | Walk 11 a.m.
Calling all men to Walk a Mile in Her Shoes! The goal of this event is to not only raise awareness about sexual violence, but to improve gender relationships and appreciation for women’s experiences. Register for FREE for this event here.
Monday, April 10 Walk the Walk | YWCA McLean County | 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Walk the Walk is an empathy simulation activity that will take participants through the journey of sexual assault survivors and their loved ones. Participants will take a walk in the steps of survivors and experience first-hand the tough decisions and victim blaming that many survivors face. Discussion from 1-2 p.m. This is a FREE event.
Tuesday, April 11 Behind the Badge | Horton Field House, 180 N. Adelaide St., Normal | 5-8 p.m.
Join YWCA McLean County as they team up with Bloomington-Normal Law Enforcement to give the community a law enforcement experience. Participate in a crime scene scenario in the detective role in a sexual assault crime simulation. This is a FREE event.
Tuesday, April 25 Take Back the Night | McLean County Museum of History (west stairs) | 6-8 p.m.
Join YWCA McLean County Stepping Stones at Take Back the Night to raise awareness for sexual violence and to support survivors in their healing process. Hear from featured speakers and participate in a rally and a one-and-half mile march through downtown Bloomington followed by a candlelight vigil. You don’t have to be a survivor, or even know a survivor to attend.
Friday, April 28 Pay What You Can Yoga | Body of Bloomington, 115 Krispy Kreme Dr. | 6 p.m.
Enjoy the 6 p.m. yoga class and “Pay What You Can,” all proceeds will be donated to YWCA Stepping Stones.
